(TeamRock Radio) Deftones have started writing music for what will be their eighth album, frontman Chino Moreno has revealed. There’s no release date for the follow-up to 2012’s Koi No Yokan. But Moreno says the band will stick to their tried-and-tested approach to songwriting on the new material.
He tells Soundwave TV: “We don’t plan on what kind of record we’re going to make. We react to each other – one guy starts playing something then the other guy reacts to it, and the other guys react to that.
“Next thing we know, we have a song. I think that’s the best way to write music. We don’t have a game plan as long as it’s good, as long as we’re happy and feeling it. It’s worked for us over the years.”
Moreno admits he hasn’t begun work himself, saying: “The other guys started last week – I’m excited to hear what they’ve done so far.”
