GWAR held a VIKING FUNERAL Friday for their former leader, ODERUS URUNGUS, during the annual Gwar-B-Q at Hadad’s Lake in Richmond, Virginia.
Now, a Viking funeral requires the body of the deceased to be placed on a boat and pushed out into the water, then SET ON FIRE. But on Friday, no actual bodies were burned.
Oderus’ human alter-ego, DAVE BROCKIE, was laid to rest earlier this year after he died of a heroin overdose in March.
Instead, they put the Oderus COSTUME on the boat, and had a guy shoot a flaming arrow into it, while the crowd cheered and chanted. They also had bagpipes.
(Here’s video of the arrow.)
