Highlights from the Chester Bennington Tribute Concert

The tribute concert for LINKIN PARK singer CHESTER BENNINGTON went down in Hollywood on Friday. At the beginning, Mike Shinoda said, quote,

“I don’t have the words. I don’t think any of us do.”

And halfway through, he talked about the moment he heard that Chester had committed suicide, and he shared a new song called “Looking for an Answer”, written just eight days later. It was a stripped-down piano ballad.

For most of the night, the band had special guests join them onstage. They included Blink-182, who was to tour with Linkin Park this year. Singer Matt Skiba joined Linkin Park for their song “What I’ve Done”.

M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold took Chester’s place on the songs “Burn It Down” and “Faint”. Deryck Whibley from Sum 41 sang “The Catalyst” . . . and a singer named Taka Moriuchi did a great job on “Somewhere I Belong”.

Linkin Park accompanied by a string quartet for most of the show, and they didn’t always have guest singers.

By the way, Julia Michaels took some heat for appearing happy and upbeat. And in response, she Tweeted, quote, “I refused to look bored and solemn for someone who wasn’t either of those things.”
