Motley Crue Announce Final Tour

Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars

As expected, Motley Crue announced their “Final Tour” on Tuesday which will feature support from Alice Cooper but the band also took the usual extra step of signing a “Cessation Of Touring Agreement” at the press event which obligates the band to officially retire after this final tour.

The band also announced that their Motley Records has teamed with Big Machine Records to release a ‘Country Music Tribute to Motley Crue’ that will feature covers of their songs from country artists like LeAnn Rimes, Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, Eli Young Band and Cassadee Pope.

Motley Crue’s Final Tour is scheduled to kick off with a North America leg on July 2nd in Grand Rapids, MI and will be hitting 72 markets before the international legs which are expected to happen in 2015.

The band’s attorney, Doug Mark of Mark Music & Media Law, explained the reasoning behind the Cessation Of Touring Agreement which will become effective at the end of next year. He said, “Other bands have split up over rancor or the inability of people to get along, but this is a mutual among all four original members and peaceful decision to move on to other endeavors and to confirm it with a binding agreement.”

That means that Motley Crue’s members, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Mick Mars, will each go their separate way after the 2-year farewell tour.

Tommy Lee had this to say, “Everything must come to an end!! We always had a vision of going out with a big f**king bang and not playing county fairs and clubs with 1 or 2 original band members! Our job here is done!!!”

Frontman Vince Neil adds “I’ll miss playing with the guys but I won’t quit playing rock and roll!! I feel there are a lot of great opportunities and exciting projects after Motley.”

The band’s mastermind Nikki Sixx had this to say about what the fans can expect from the final tour, “When it comes to putting together a new show we always push the envelope and that’s part of Motley Crue’s legacy,” explains Sixx. “As far as letting on to what we’re doing, that would be like finding out what you’re getting for Christmas before you open the presents. We think in an age of too much information, we’d like to keep some surprises close to our chest until we launch the Final Tour.”

As previously leaked, legendary rocker Alice Cooper will be supporting Motley Crue on the trek. Cooper had this to say, “Real hard rock bands are hard to find these days,” said Alice, “Motley has always gone on stage with one attitude and that’s to blow the audience away. That’s exactly how we do it. Putting Motley Crue and Alice Cooper together is going to be just what this summer really NEEDS. We’re going to go out there and tear it up, and I can’t wait to see Motley on stage. Motley Crue and Alice Cooper – A match made in… Armageddon?”

The band also announced that their final tour will tie with the 2015 release of the motion picture that is based on their best-selling biography “The Dirt”. more on this story
