The Reason Tom DeLonge Left Blink-182 is Because He Wanted to Sound Like Coldplay and U2

The reason for TOM DELONGE’s departure from BLINK-182 has been revealed. It turns out he wanted to soften the band’s sound, and TRAVIS BARKER and MARK HOPPUS weren’t on board.

Travis says, quote, “I think Blink is like eternal youth . . . Mark and I personally never wanted to change. The last couple of albums, Tom was obsessed with U2 and wanted to sound like U2. He wanted to basically record songs that sound like Coldplay.

“For us, it was always like ‘Blink is Blink, man. We want to sound like [effing] Blink-182 . . . We love Blink and we love the sound of Blink.”

(Here’s video. The Blink stuff starts at 9:05. WARNING!!! Uncensored profanity!)
